Job Details

This full time, faculty position begins in August 2019 with a 30 credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually.

Only dynamic practitioners of experiential teaching and learning techniques need apply.  Expect to actively guide student learning in our indoor, outdoor, and community classrooms.

The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate science courses that may include Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental Science depending on candidate qualifications. Candidates eligible to be credentialed in multiple science disciplines may be given preference. Teaching responsibilities also may include concurrent enrollment courses delivered in coordination with local high schools.

Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching course load as assigned, evaluating courses and assess student learning, meeting established course, program and learning outcomes, complying with guidelines and policies, maintaining office hours per established standards, developing rapport with students, assisting with and participating in advising, orientation and registration activities.

CMC faculty are generally expected to remain current in their field, and participate in service activities such as campus and college committees, relevant projects, peer mentoring, assessment activities, program review, student organizations, recruiting and retention.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in a culturally diverse environment and the ability to effectively work with students, employees, vendors and community members having diverse backgrounds.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Salary range: $57,492 - $74,144 depending upon education and experience/teaching experience in higher education. 

Requirements:

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in the listed science disciplines, or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in one or more of the science disciplines noted above.

A minimum of one year full time teaching, or equivalent as an adjunct instructor required. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
