  Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume) Bachelor’s Degree. Three [3] years of full-time, applicable programming experience. Experience working in object oriented languages, database management systems and structured query language (SQL). Experience with data integrations. Knowledge of software development practices (eg: agile, source control, documentation, testing and QA).

 

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Degree. Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning systems. Knowledge of Financial Planning or Budgeting functionality in software systems. Knowledge of Financials functionality in software systems. Experience with Project Management (PMBOK) and change management principles.

 

Brief Description of Duties: The primary purpose of this position is to provide technology services to Stony Brook University in support of the systems that run the Human Resources, Financial, Student Systems, Research Administration and other Administrative functions of the University. Therefore, the selected applicant must have the ability to analyze problems, formulate and design solutions, gather business requirements, and communicate clearly with clients. This position is responsible for business analysis, application design, programming, troubleshooting, problem resolution, maintenance, and documentation of applications, interfaces, and reports as well as selection, analysis, configuration and maintenance of Software as a Service (SaaS) and/or hosted applications. The incumbent will be expected to collaborate with their colleagues in other DoIT departments including, but not limited to, Systems and Client Support to ensure reliable and effective delivery of computer applications to the campus community. The successful incumbent will have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

 

  • Extend PeopleSoft functionality using tools such as Application Engine, SQR, XML Publisher, Application Packages, Workflow, Integration Broker, Component Interface, PeopleSoft Query. PeopleCode and other Application Designer objects as needed.
  • Collaborate with other Division of Information Technology staff to ensure effective maintenance, troubleshooting, problem resolution, management and support for systems and applications.
  • Employ standards to ensure data accuracy, security and privacy of information to which incumbent has access as a result of their duties.
  • Advise management of potential breaches of data and systems security.
  • Assist users in accessing and utilizing their data.
  • Manage all work; tracks tasks and issues using JIRA.
  • Document applications, reports, and interfaces to describe program objectives, use cases, development, logic, coding, configurations, corrections, and other elements required to ensure others have sufficient information to support.
  • In performance of all job duties, at all times be responsible for delivering optimal customer service, for protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Plan, analyze, design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain custom applications and reports including coding, testing, debugging and installing.
  • Design, build and maintain complex data integrations between University systems, while ensuring data security and integrity. Coordinate integrations to help streamline business operations.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.

Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. Weekend work will be required at times.
