DEPARTMENT:Agricultural, Horticultural and Veterinary Sciences
REPORTS TO:Department Chair
PLACEMENT: Placement on salary schedule is dependent on qualifications.
MINIMUM PAY RATE:Qualifications include education and related work experience.

Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a standard load. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Teach various courses related to Veterinary Medical Technology which could include surgery and A&P.
2.Participate in course and curriculum development.
3.Assist with departmental student organizations and activities.
4.Attend and assist with various departmental recruitment activities including high school visitation.
5.Work closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support.
6.Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities.
7.Be willing to teach online and/or blended courses.
8.Participate in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees.
9.Assist students with academic advising.
10.Conduct placement and supervision of students in off-campus externship programs.
11.Establish and maintain animal patients within the clinical setting.
12.Teach both day and evening classes at main and branch campuses. Weekend/holiday duties may occur.
13.Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
14.Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
15.Teach at other campus sites as needed.
16.Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
1.CVT or DVM in Illinois or ability to obtain IL CVT or DVM license.
2.Three (3) years teaching and/or clinical experience.
3.Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction.
1.Large animal experience desirable.
2.Teaching experience at the community college level.
3.Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
4.Experience in teaching using online and/or course management software.
1.Normal classroom physical demands.
2.Ability to move and lift animals, equipment and supplies up to 50lbs.
1.Classroom teaching environment.
2.Laboratory teaching and occasional outdoor laboratory activities.

If you would like to receive the ASR, FSR or MPP in booklet form, you may stop by the Campus Police Department located on Main Campus in G 1013 or call Campus Police at 815-280-2234. The website and booklet contain information regarding campus security and personal safety such as crime prevention and reporting, police law enforcement authority, disciplinary procedures and other related security policies. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous years for all JJC campuses, property owned and controlled by JJC District 525 and on public property immediately adjacent to JJC campuses.
This information is required by law and is made available by the Joliet Junior College Police Department.
