The Lima campus seeks an Instructor for its Chemistry Program, starting Autumn 2019. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to the teaching mission of The Ohio State University and a background in teaching both lecture and laboratory components of Elementary and General Chemistry courses for science majors and non-majors. Collaboration with related lecture course instructors, the laboratory supervisor, and the coordinator for Chemistry is expected.

The Ohio State University at Lima is one of five campuses of The Ohio State University. Current enrollment on the Lima campus is approximately 1,000 students, with approximately 70 full- and part-time faculty across all academic programs. Average class size at the Lima campus is 18 students. Ohio State Lima offers the first two years of the Ohio State general education curriculum and twelve programs leading to baccalaureate degrees.

Essential Duties:

Develop and deliver engaging curriculum materials using best teaching practices for elementary chemistry and general chemistry. Hold office hours outside of class sessions. The main teaching responsibility will involve Elementary Chemistry (CHEM 1110) and General Chemistry I (CHEM 1210). This includes between 1 and 3 lab sessions per semester, plus between 1 and 3 lecture sections to total approximately 10-14 contact hours per semester.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Chemistry or an equivalent.

Desired Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Chemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
