The incumbent will report to the Director of Facilities and Operations and will work
within a Facility Operations team maintaining and preparing athletic fields and facilities for athletics and non-athletics activities and events. Designated service area includes Kaplan Arena, Walter J. Zable Stadium, Busch Field, Dillard Field, Millie West Tennis Facility, Martin Family Stadium, Jimmye Laycock Football Center, Montgomery Football Practice Field, and Plumeri Park.
•Perform natural and artificial turf care and maintenance.
•Perform event setups and breakdown.
•Operate and maintain small equipment necessary to the care and maintenance of athletics fields.
•Work closely with the athletics staff and coaches to provide the athletes with a championship experience
.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge:
•Knowledge in the care and maintenance of commercial and residential grounds.
•Knowledge in the care and operation of small equipment used in grounds care and maintenance (commercial lawn mowers, leaf blowers, weed trimmers, pressure washers).

Skills:
•Demonstrated strong verbal communication skills.
•Demonstrated ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.

A valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of grounds maintenance and turf equipment.
• Knowledge of techniques, tools, equipment and safety precautions involved with small equipment operation, including paint machines, lifts, and blowers.
• Light maintenance and carpentry skills.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements for the job: stand for prolonged periods of time; lift up to 50lbs; constantly push, pull, and carry items; walk up and down stairs, inclines and hills on a daily basis.
• CPR/First Aid certification, or must obtain within six months of hire.
• Forklift certification, or must obtain within 60 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
•Experienced in forklift operation.
•Light maintenance and carpentry skills.

• Must be able to meet physical requirements for the job: stand for prolonged periods of time; lift up to 50lbs; constantly push, pull, and carry items; walk up and down stairs, inclines and hills on a daily basis.
• Must be able to maintain a drivers license.
• CPR/First Aid certification, or must obtain within six months of hire.
• Forklift and aerial work platform certification, or must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check is required.
• Subject to overtime, weekend work, extended hours. May be required to perform duties during periods of inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
• This position has been designated as essential and may require reporting to work when the college is officially closed.
• This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor. This position may require overtime to include scheduled and unscheduled nights and weekends and or holidays.
• This is a restricted position subject to availability of funding.
