PASADENA CAMPUS

***THIS POSITION IS ONLY FOR FEDERAL WORK STUDY ELIGIBLE STUDENTS AT PACIFIC OAKS COLLEGE***

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Student Services department has a Student Worker Office Assistant position open for a dependable, punctual, self-motivated, detail-oriented individual. This position will provide student-centered support services to ground, online and cohort students enrolled in at Pacific Oaks College. The Student Worker will administer a high-level of customer service to ensure retention, student satisfaction, and success of students. This position will report to the Interim-Manager of Academic Advising to assist with general student outreach, pulling reports and email/phone correspondence as well as basic knowledge of policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide general office assistance.
  • Answering the phone and make phone calls on behalf of the department.
  • Copying and sorting materials.
  • Compiling information as requested by the Student Support Coordinator.
  • Conducting research using the Internet as requested.
  • Scheduling visits for the department.
  • Post event materials on campus
  • Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience/ability to positively function in a complex, fast-paced team environment, and meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends).
  • Excellent aptitude in personal planning and organizational skills that are strongly aligned with personal accountability and responsibility.
  • Manage multiple student inquiries and provide real-time assistance whenever possible or necessary.

  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a Pacific Oaks College student
  • Knowledge of office computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and to be professional.
  • Organizational/administrative abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain organization
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Must be eligible for Financial Aid

    This position is deemed to be and have the following requirements:

Full Description of Physical Requirements:

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Very heavy work. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
