The department of Pharmacology & Neuroscience in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences is dedicated to quality biomedical research and graduate education. Department research and training activities are supported through multiple federal, state, and private grants. We offer both MS and PhD degrees in a wide range of research areas.
Position Details
* This posting is an hourly position and is non-benefits eligible.
The Pharmacology & Neuroscience Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Laboratory Assistant-Hourly to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
* Assist with general laboratory work in conjunction with Research Assistant or Research Associate personnel.
* Assisting in evaluating the in vivo effect of novel compounds using an animal model of Parkinson's Disease.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
* At least two years of college education majoring in Biology, Neuroscience or Chemistry is also preferred.
* Introductory courses in chemistry and/or biology.
* A course in organic chemistry and in molecular biology is desirable. * * Previous laboratory experience is desirable.
* Preparing buffer solutions.
* General laboratory maintenance.
* Maintaining a laboratory notebook.
* Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and computer-based graphing programs.
* Good work ethic (i.e. showing up for work on time, work well with co-workers).
* Good communication and observation skills.
* Assist in conducting a research project.
* Good math skills.
