The College of Education’s Office of Experiential Learning is committed to providing a range of field experiences that prepare our graduates to be impactful educators and professionals in a diverse society. We strive to make the process efficient and organized across all programs. Our team is dedicated to serving the College of Education in the following ways:

Developing school and community partnerships and administering clinical-related contracts
Arranging field experiences and clinical placements
Supporting research projects
Offering international student teaching opportunities and supporting other College of Education study abroad programs
Providing resources for students to engage as volunteers in the community
Providing general support and resources for satisfying the UGA experiential learning requirement

Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

Provide leadership for a team that makes field and clinical experience placements for students in the College of Education and its partner programs across the university. Communicate with senior leaders and internal and external constituent groups to coordinate placements and other clinical experiences for students. Serve as the lead college representative in ensuring the college’s commitment to the experiential learning requirement. Assist in forming and enhancing relationships with community partners. Oversee data management and analysis for reporting purposes to required agencies and to improve operations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Master’s degree in a related field.

Physical Demands

Willing to sit for long periods of time.
Use of office equipment/computer for extended periods of time.

Manage the day-to-day operations and provide supervision for the unit responsible for arranging a high volume of field and clinical placements for the College of Education and UGA/COE (College of Education) partner teacher preparation programs. Supervise staff who assist with study abroad. Directly communicate with key community stakeholders and state agencies. Oversee use of databases and other tools to facilitate the work of the office. Provide leadership in developing and implementing policies and procedures that will ensure data integrity to inform state program approval and accreditation needs.

Manage a portfolio of placements to support required clinical and field experiences for education and allied health students. Ensure compliance with state requirements for mentors and establish memoranda of agreement when needed.

Assist faculty in the development of experiential learning proposals across the broad array of creative, global, internship, leadership, research, and service opportunities in which students can engage. Shepard proposals for university consideration through the approval office. Support faculty in their development of experiential learning proposals and assist students in obtaining clearance for uniquely design experiences to meet the experiential learning requirement

Assist faculty in engaging community stakeholders to facilitate field-based and clinical learning experiences for programs within the College of Education and its partner programs. Collect data, assess the quality of those relationships, and provide feedback for program improvement.
