The Social and Digital Content Strategist drives social media strategy and content planning with an eye toward increasing engagement and driving awareness of the university among target audiences. Reporting to the Director of Digital Content, the Social and Digital Content Strategist in will work closely with writers in the Office of Communications and Public Relations on the planning and development of content and strategies for publishing and promoting stories. They will also work closely with the Media Planning and Research Specialist on paid social and sponsored content and with the Web Content Manager to integrate content into the university website. This position collaborates closely with departments across the university including Alumni Engagement, Admissions, Student Affairs and academic programs.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position

7+ years demonstrated experience in social media content and strategy development; In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and their respective participants, and how each can be deployed in different scenarios; Demonstrated ability to map out engagement strategy and then drive that strategy; Demonstrated ability to integrate social media programs into overall marketing objectives and activities; Demonstrated success in measuring, reporting and analyzing program results and a general knowledge of tools needed for effective reporting; Team player, with the confidence to effectively take the lead and guide other stakeholders when necessary; Experience with social media advertising and sponsored content; Experience with email marketing platforms; Strong project management and organizational skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be
received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience overseeing social media strategy for a brand with 50,000+ followers; Experience working with or within an organization that has multiple sub-brand channels with multiple owners; Experience with social media applications such as fundraising tools and engagement-driving apps; Experience working on crisis communications teams; Experience working with or within a college or university; Experience editing websites within a CMS.
