Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Direct Marketing, a unit within the Office of Development (OOD), the Data Marketing Specialist is responsible for providing a wide variety of analytical data to inform internal stakeholders' strategies to increase efficiency and effectiveness of direct appeal campaigns.
Direct Marketing:
The Office of Development's (“OOD”) Direct Marketing team provides multi-channel integrated marketing support for Stanford University's Office of Development. Team members work in close collaboration with schools and units across campus to achieve school and unit annual giving revenue goals.

This position will be moving to the Stanford Redwood City Campus in April 2019.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Conduct market research, including competitive benchmarking, and analyze campaign/program/ service/event effectiveness used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation and customer targeting.
  • Assess and produce relevant, standard, or custom information (reports, charts, graphs and tables) from structured data sources by querying data repositories.
  • Research market trends for retention, acquisition, and ROI to communicate with direct marketing. Recommend marketing improvements based on findings.
  • Analyze fund performance across all schools and compare to industry & organizational benchmarks
  • Recommend and execute marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with client managers to assist them in managing marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including gathering insights and making recommendations to develop strategies to improve individual appeal performance.
  • Develop and produce dashboards to regularly monitor and report organizational and marketing campaign performance to influence client behavior
  • Identify new tests and methods to improve data collection, analysis and reporting to inform marketing behavior.
  • Manage vendors/consultants on specific projects.
  • Manage project/program budget(s) and coordinate invoice processing.
  • May oversee interns and other contingent staff; provide staff training.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.

    To be successful in this position, you will bring:
    • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
    • Previous experience with market research and data analysis and proven track record of implementing successful marketing programs.
    • Basic knowledge and demonstrated experience using and applying analytical software, database management systems, or data visualization tools.
    • Demonstrated problem solver and ability to produce data in a clear and understandable manner.
    • Experience with project management and successfully managing multiple projects with competing priorities
    • Proven customer service skills and experience influencing stakeholders at all levels of an organization to achieve a common goal.
    • Excellent written and oral communication, listening, and presentation skills.
