This position provides technical support for the staff at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. This includes helpdesk calls, routine and non-routine technical support of server hardware and software, AD and Group Policy Management, and server software installation and management. It includes the install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IT hardware and software components to support the MPSC user community and operational environment. Utilize problem and request management system to record and track daily operational issues and activities in a timely manner. Execute documented IT standard operating procedures. Communicate with MPSC IT team members frequently and regularly to advise on the current status of outstanding projects and tasks.

Education and Experience

Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, computer Technology Integration, Networking Technology, or related area and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, math or engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journey level required an additional one year of experience
- Advanced level required an additional two years of experience.

Special Physical and Mental Requirements

Requires the ability to lift / move items weighing up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
