Full-time, 100% (12 month basis) Tenure-Track or Clinical-Track Open Rank Professor in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging

The Diagnostic Imaging Service at the University of Illinois (Illinois) is committed to continuing our college’s tradition of outstanding service, teaching, and research. Requirements: The successful candidate must have a DVM degree or equivalent and have completed a residency program in diagnostic imaging. Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Radiology or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, or sufficient completion of ACVR or ECVDI requirements for board eligibility, is required. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced degrees relevant to Biological Sciences or a demonstrated track record of academic/scholarly productivity.

Duties: The successful candidate will join our faculty in providing clinical service, as well as clinical and didactic teaching of professional students, residents, and interns. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the scholarly mission of the College, through either independent or collaborative research efforts. Comprehensive continuing education programs and professional development courses for ultrasound are also provided. Percent time dedicated to teaching, scholarly activities, and clinical service will be based on the successful candidate’s career goals and the needs of the department. Participation in clinically relevant or basic research projects will be expected.

Professional Opportunities: Illinois’ Veterinary Teaching Hospital possesses a comprehensive array of resources in the form of state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical equipment. Specific imaging modalities include the GE Precision 500 digital fluoroscopy unit, GE Proteus units for large and small animal radiography, GE Voluson Echo US unit, Toshiba and MyLab US units, GE Lightspeed 16 slice CT and a Mirage Nuclear Medicine camera. We have a Siemens 3T MRI for small and large animal scanning, a Linear Accelerator vault is currently being constructed and we anticipate adding a 128 slice CT within the next year. Opportunities to collaborate with multiple clinical and basic science researchers within the college and university are widely available.

The College maintains a full-service 230,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art hospital for farm, companion, and exotic animals that supports, engages, and advances the teaching and research activities of the college.
