Nature of Work

The position of Paraprofessional will assist the teachers and administrative staff in executing the mission of the Minority Outreach Program. Hours during program operation may range from 20-30 hours per week, with roughly 20 students per period.

Essential Duties
  • Assist Teachers in working with individual students and with groups
  • Assist in grading papers when appropriate
  • Assist in preparing and serving snack breaks and lunches
  • Prepare handouts
  • Provide administrative support as requested
  • Assist on all field trips and enrichment activities
  • Assist with program’s final closing ceremony
  • Assist in classroom management process
  • Provide assistance for pre-test and post-test
  • Other duties as assigned by teacher, program directors, or counselor
Minimum Qualifications and Training
  • Must have experience teaching or working with children aged 8-13
  • Must possess strong customer service and communication skills
  • Must be dependable
  • Must have knowledge of general office equipment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
  • Must demonstrate the ability to understand and carry out simple oral instructions
  • Must have a high level of professionalism
Preferred Qualifications and Training
  • Demonstrates excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines
  • Some level of higher education is preferred
