The Thoracic Medicine & Surgery Department at Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) for Temple University is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Clerk V.  

The Clerk V, under the supervision and direction of assigned faculty and the Section Administrator, will provide varied and complex clerical support to the department. The Clerk V will be serving as clerical support to assigned faculty and staff, answering and screening a high volume of calls; copying and filing functions; maintaining faculty on-call schedules on a monthly basis, responding to requests for out-patient visits and schedules procedures as directed by the faculty; creating memos, minutes, and other materials as assigned; verifying patient insurance information for all patients and completes accurate registrations using the GE/IDX system; answering telephone and e-mail messages in a timely manner; composing correspondence, under the direction of the Manager; and providing exemplary customer service in the resolution of patient complaints.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
At least three years' secretarial experience in a medical practice or physician's office. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with MS Office Suite software programs.

*Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology

*Demonstrated ability to utilize GE/IDX software.
*Demonstrated knowledge of office practices and operation of general office equipment.
*Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
*Demonstrated ability to interpret and carry out written and verbal instructions and procedures.
*Strong organizational skills, and ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented.
