Louisiana State University seeks an inspiring leader to provide strategic vision and direction for our flagship campus’s growing and increasingly diverse student body. The Vice President for Student Affairs oversees the Division of Student Affairs, and reports to the Executive Vice President & Provost. Direct reports include the Dean of Students (Campus Life, Disability Services, Greek Life, Student Advocacy and Accountability, Veterans Student Center, Student Government), Parent and Family Programs, Student Financial Management Center, Residential Life, Student Health Center, University Recreation, and the Olinde Career Center. 

As the campus’s chief student affairs officer, the Vice President will develop the strategic vision for the co-curricular areas of the university and provide leadership and management over a team of professionals committed to student success.  A member of the Executive Vice President & Provost’s executive leadership team, the Vice President oversees a $77M annual budget.

About LSU:

LSU is comprised of eight campuses stretching across Louisiana and includes more than 50,000 students and research expenditures amounting to $360 million. Within LSU are two health sciences centers offering various levels of degrees in medicine, dentistry, allied health, nursing, public health, and graduate studies. The LSU Agricultural Center encompasses both extension responsibilities and agricultural research. The Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a premier research institute specializing in chronic disease, diabetes, and obesity. LSU-Shreveport offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level, and has an emerging online presence. LSU-Alexandria is a four-year institution serving the central region of the state. LSU-Eunice is a junior college offering degrees and certificates in health, business, and liberal arts.

LSU’s flagship campus, located in the state capital of Baton Rouge, is Louisiana’s premier public institution. It is a land-, sea-, and space-grant institution enrolling some 32,000 students studying in nearly 200 bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and specialist programs. The flagship campus includes the Paul M. Hebert Law Center and the state’s only School of Veterinary Medicine. There are more than 5,000 employees with a budget of more than $1 billion on the flagship campus.

Specific responsibilities include:

·         Engage, retain, and graduate a dynamic and academically competitive student body

·         Develop a campus environment conducive to student success

·         Develop and oversee strategic initiatives with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and the Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Support Services that positively impact the retention of students

·         Work in collaboration with students, faculty, and staff to create conditions that support and enhance the intellectual and personal development of students

·         Serve as the primary advocate for students by leading efforts to enhance the quality of co-curricular life, create support networks for students, promote cultural diversity, ensure access to educational opportunities and support services necessary for academic success, advance health and wellness initiatives, and provide guidance for career opportunities post-graduation

·         Develop and support leadership development opportunities for all students

·         Serve as the liaison between University administration and Student Government

·         Partner with the LSU Foundation to further philanthropic support of the Division

·         Lead a division that is responsive to student needs

Qualifications:

Master’s degree required, PhD or terminal professional degree preferred; Extensive University administrative experience in positions of progressively increasing responsibility and complexity; Demonstrated accomplishment in leading initiatives related to student success
