This position is responsible for coordinating the deployment, maintenance, update, and repair of computer lab and classroom information technology
Essential DutiesWorks collaboratively to coordinate the provision of computer lab and classroom technology (60%)
• Surveys the faculty to determine software and hardware needs
• Selects and deploys hardware and software in college classrooms and computer labs
• Builds and maintains lab images and servers
• Coordinates hardware and software updates
• Coordinates the repair and maintenance of computers and peripheral devices
Coordinates and supervises the work of staff (25%)
• Hires, trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines assigned student workers
• Directs the work of assigned full-time staff.
• Records and approve time sheets
Performs a variety of related duties (15%)
• Answers telephone calls and emails; determines nature of requests and responds accordingly
• Monitors help desk operations
• Manages inventory and orders supplies
• Attends meetings
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES AND/OR COMPETENCIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
• Knowledge of trends and developments in classroom technology
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software deployment, updating, and repair principles
• Knowledge of help desk services principles
• Knowledge of automated data processing
• Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs
• Skill in decision making and problem solving
• Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
• Skill in oral and written communication
• Associates degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.
• More than two years of related experience
• Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
• Work experience in a College or University environment
• The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell
• The work is typically performed in an office or computer room
