Assistant or Associate Professor of Visual Communication Design

The Division of Communication and Creative Media at Champlain College seeks a dynamic and experienced educator for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor position in our NASAD- accredited BFA program in Visual Communication Design (formerly Graphic Design & Digital Media). The position is to begin in August 2019.

Duties: Teach four courses per semester from among the following topical areas: foundational design, color theory, drawing for designers, typography, publication design, and design for 3D applications; participate in student portfolio review and contribute to curriculum development; help foster and further develop industry relationships locally and nationally; and engage in programmatic, divisional, and college-wide service.

Qualifications:  A BFA in Graphic Design is preferred and an MFA in a related discipline is required. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a record of effective college teaching, primarily in foundational design courses but also intermediate design courses, be familiar with both manual and digital graphic design practices and tools, have experience in student mentoring and advising, and be a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive colleague.
