Schack Institute of Real Estate

The Schack Institute of Real Estate within NYU's School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) invites applications for the combined roles of a) full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Real Estate, and b) Academic Director of the BS in Real Estate program at Schack and the NYUSPS Division for Applied Undergraduate Studies.

This position will begin September 1, 2019.  Full-time faculty appointments are for nine months, and are renewable annually based on performance. Academic Director appointments are concurrent appointments that run for 11 months, and are independently renewable annually based on performance. The Academic Director will be responsible for the management and development of the academic curriculum, hiring, oversight, and on-going communication with faculty and staff, management of student services and concerns, and collaborating with alumni and industry partners.  The standard full-time teaching load is six courses per academic year; this load is reduced to four courses per academic year for this combined appointment.  The rank of the position is dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Eligibility:
Preferred qualifications include: a) PhD or other terminal degree in economics, applied economics, urban economics, finance, real estate, or a related field, b) Experience in degree program management and adjunct faculty management, c) Excellence in undergraduate or graduate-level teaching of real estate development, real estate finance and economics, real estate asset management, urban design, or related subjects, d) Demonstrated commitment to student advising and experience with working with diverse student populations, e) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and f) Significant participation in applied real estate research, as evidenced by publication in peer-reviewed professional periodicals or refereed scholarly publications, conference presentations, and/or grant awards.

The NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Schack Institute of Real Estate was founded in 1967 at the initiative of prominent members of the New York City real estate community. More than 50 years later, the Schack Institute is at the forefront of real estate education and is recognized globally as one of the world’s leading centers of real estate research and pedagogy. Across the Institute’s graduate degree programs—the MS in Real Estate, the MS in Construction Management, and the MS in Real Estate Development—as well as a rapidly expanding undergraduate degree program, enrollment has grown to more than 800 full- and part-time students from across the United States and nearly 50 other countries.
