Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery is seeking a Web Developer 1 to be under direct supervision, building, implementing, and maintaining AEM and WordPress websites. The Web Developer will also be performing day-to-day website administration and working directly with Stanford clinicians and researchers. This position is an entry-level opportunity where learning and mentoring are key aspects. The candidate would be interested in the healthcare industry and excited to make a tangible impact on helping people with medical needs understand more about their conditions and connect with our world-class doctors.

Duties include:

  • Implement and maintain content management systems such as AEM and WordPress, including installation, configuration, theme and plug-in integration, and ongoing support of departmental liaisons using existing platforms and tools.*
  • Update web pages to ensure site accuracy and currency; perform light web design.
  • Produce online content, animated gifs, static buttons, and email and landing pages under the direction of senior web developer.
  • Evaluate and support user needs, and recommend solutions within existing platforms; maintain and develop documentation and how-to guides for customers.
  • Perform selected website administration duties for existing clients.
  • Perform light troubleshooting and first line support.
* - Other duties may also be assigned.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Interest in healthcare and/or medical education

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
  • Very good interpersonal skills and ability to explain technical and design features to non-technical customers/clients.
  • Experience with content management systems, such as WordPress, including the ability to perform installations and configurations.
  • Clear understanding of web standards, good web design, and usability methods.
  • Knowledge of website delivery best practices.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related website development technologies and software.
  • Familiarity with a range of programming and scripting languages.
  • Ability to design and implement web services.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Frequently sitting.
  • Occasionally stand/walk.
  • Rarely writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Strong visual acuity.
