The Department of Chemical and Systems Biology at Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking a Grant Writer at 75% FTE (Academic Program Professional 2) to work under the general direction of the department chair and other faculty to develop, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals to federal and non-federal funding agencies.
The department has 12 faculty, 53 graduate students, and 51 postdoctoral scholars and seeks to advance biomedical science through molecular and quantitative approaches and translate laboratory discoveries into new clinical therapies. We are one of the premier basic science departments in the country, attracting stellar graduate students and fellows who advance to positions as top scientists and academic leaders in their field.
This position will take the lead role preparing institutional and multi-investigator grant applications on behalf of the department, including but not limited to, training grants, multi-PI, and research center grants. Applicants should have documented success in scientific writing (writing first drafts, editing, proofreading, responding to reviewer critiques, etc.), establishing timelines and deliverables, and collaborative projects.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD in a biomedical science or related field.
Experience with developing, editing, and reviewing of grant applications, including familiarity with study sections or grant review committees.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and three or more years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. For jobs with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
- Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.
- Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
- Ability to oversee and direct staff.
- Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Occasionally use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
- Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.
- Ability to use voice to present information/communicate with others.
- On-campus mobility.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
