Description:

The Director of Undergraduate Creative Writing plays a central teaching, advising, and administrative role in a strong undergraduate creative writing curriculum within a large English Department. Primary duties include: teaching two creative writing courses per semester, with emphasis in fiction, via workshops, seminars, and related courses; serving as primary administrator for the undergraduate Creative Writing curriculum; overseeing and serving as advisor for a Creative Writing Certificate program. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of English, the Director works in close collaboration with the Undergraduate Advisor, relevant departmental committees, and the Directors of the New Writers Project MFA program. Expected salary range: $50,000 - $60,000.


Qualifications:

Creative writing MFA, PhD, or equivalent. A good teaching record at the college level with the ability to teach fiction workshops and seminars; capacity to teach in a secondary genre is desirable. Demonstrated success in academic, literary, or related administration. Excellence in communication, collaboration, community building, and multi-tasking. A record of successful creative publication, including a book published by a nationally recognized press.
