Job Description

A&M-Central Texas Campus Recreation strives to cultivate an environment where students feel connected to their communities and empowered to live a healthy lifestyle. Our programming and initiatives are designed to serve our diverse student body and we work to facilitate student success through recreation. Reporting to the Coordinator of Campus Recreation, the student supervisor position is an integral part of the department.

Student Supervisor

Student Supervisors are responsible for the supervision of the Fitness Center and Human Performance Lab (FC/HPL). This includes supervising daily operations, the facility, and student workers. The position requires critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently. Supervisors must work constructively and collaborate with other student supervisors. Supervisors are expected to maintain an awareness of potential problems while creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Student Supervisor duties include:

  • Payment processing in the FC/HPL
  • Supports the mission of A&M-Central Texas, the Division of Student Affairs, and Campus Recreation
  • Provide office and clerical support by greeting and assisting individuals and answering phone calls, and act as a representative of Campus Recreation in support of programs and services for all members of the A&M-Central Texas community.
  • Assist with the management of Campus Recreation social media while following all Division of Student Affairs social media requirements and procedures
  • Assist professional staff in planning and operating student worker orientation (Fall, Spring, & Summer)
  • Attend and actively participate in all student supervisor meetings
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all student workers
  • Work administrative support shifts in addition to supervision shifts
  • Assist with creation, planning, and supervision of Campus Recreation events and programming
  • Oversee and implement daily cleaning checklist
  • Keep and maintain open avenues of communication with Campus Recreation professional staff
  • Perform all duties given by the Graduate Assistant and Coordinator

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in basic office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Detail oriented, strong customer service skills, leadership skills, efficient communication skills

Qualifications:

Must be a registered student in good standing with A&M-Central Texas

Must be able to work a minimum of 3 consecutive hours

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work independently on long term programming and initiatives. Ideal candidates will have a strong desire to be a key component of the implementation of new program areas; including, but not limited to: Club Sports, Intramural Sports, Outdoor Adventure, and Fitness and Group Exercise classes. They will also have a desire to gain experience in marketing, promotions, programs, and events.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 1 semester work experience with TAMUCT Campus Recreation

Physical Demands:

May sometimes be requested to carry, move, and store boxes heavier than 20 pounds.

Hourly Rate: $9.25/hour

Hours: Up to 19.5 hours/week
