The Department of Physical Therapy (https://www.utc.edu/physical-therapy/) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites nominations and applications for a 9-month Tenure Track Faculty position or Faculty of Practice position. We are specifically looking for candidates with evidence of expertise in orthopedic physical therapy and kinesiology.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will provide teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical practice. Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The successful Tenure Track candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Degree in physical therapy 
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Tennessee with credentials to treat patients/clients in a direct access setting (DPT, tDPT, or appropriate coursework in differential diagnosis)
• Clinical expertise in orthopedics and kinesiology
• Terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS, or equivalent) in physical therapy or related discipline. Individuals who are “all but dissertation” (ABD) will be considered; however, the degree must be awarded within twelve months of the first semester of employment
• Demonstrated ability to teach in a classroom and clinical setting, including PT students
• A minimum of 3 years clinical practice as a licensed physical therapist
• Willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC’s Strategic Plan, including demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion

The successful Faculty of Practice position candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Degree in physical therapy
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Tennessee with credentials to treat patients/clients in a direct access setting (DPT, tDPT, or appropriate coursework in differential diagnosis)
• Clinical expertise in orthopedics and kinesiology including ABPTS OCS or SCS certification
• Demonstrated ability to teach in a classroom and clinical setting, including PT students
• A minimum of 3 years clinical practice as a licensed physical therapist
• Willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC’s Strategic Plan, including demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion

The UTC-Doctor of Physical Therapy Department is located in the recently renovated James P. Mapp Building on the university campus which provides more than 10,000 square feet of space (including an outdoor classroom with a mobility park) and laboratories (motion analysis, clinical, anatomy, and research).
