The Wofford College Office of Advancement seeks applications for a leadership gift officer. Reporting directly to the associate vice president for advancement, this position primarily is responsible for management of a portfolio of donor relationships. The leadership gift officer is expected to seek out donor prospects and cultivate strategic alignments to result to valuable and ongoing donor relationships. The leadership gift officer will plan and implement strategies with donors to secure support to meet the strategic vision of the college.

The leadership gift officer is a full-time exempt position. Contingent upon initiatives and activities, occasional evening and weekend hours as well as travel are expected in this role. Normal office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Donor relationship and portfolio management – Proactively develop and manage a targeted portfolio of donor relationships. Proactively strategize to align donor interests with the goals and objectives of Wofford College. The donor portfolio is composed of 2/3 major gift donors and 1/3 high annual giving donors.

 

 

  • Outreach – Working with advancement colleagues and the college community (students, faculty, staff and volunteers), outreach into the community to continuously seek out, build and cultivate donor prospects and relationships.
  • Other services – As a key member of the Office of Advancement, contributes to the life of Wofford College through participations in college-wide initiatives, committees and events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates will possess an undergraduate degree; however, preference will be provided for candidates with a graduate degree. Demonstrated successful major gift experience is required. Comprehensive capital campaign experience is preferred and highly valued.

The successful incumbent will be outgoing, a self-starter, self-motivated and enthusiastic. S/he will embrace a collaborative team approach in working with colleagues, including faculty, staff and volunteers. S/he also will possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills to strategically promote, present and advocate for the vision and mission of Wofford College.
