This person serves as an academic advisor to students in the Richards College of Business. The role of the academic advisor focuses on student retention, progression and graduation and involves various activities and duties that facilitate students’ success in the Richards College. The academic advisor assists college departments and the dean’s office in promoting the Richards College and its students. In addition to academic advising, common tasks might include representing the Richards College at various orientation and student information events; helping develop marketing plans to promote Richards College programs to current and prospective students; assistance in conducting surveys of graduates and employers; assistance with career development for current students; and helping facilitate assessment activities in the Richards College.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma and Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university are required. Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with students, faculty, and staff. Good organizational skills are required. Good critical thinking skills and ability to accurately advise students on course selections. Good analytical skills, and good computer aptitude and skills (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, publishing and graphics software) are also expected.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of experience in higher education in advising or related area. Experience with Student Information Systems such as Banner SIS is preferred.

Salary $35,796 (minimum) - $46,740 (midpoint) Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

May occasionally involve lifting materials from 10 to 25 pounds.
