About the Division of Development and Alumni Relations

The mission of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is to promote the mission, purpose, and priorities of the University of Miami through fundraising and engagement. We do this by building and nurturing strategic philanthropic relationships to improve and transform the lives of individuals and communities.

DAR is looking for experienced development professionals to join our team of diverse leaders and extraordinary staff in every area of development/advancement.

Job Functions/Tracks

Fundraising - Responsible for leading all activities of fundraising including identification, cultivation and solicitation. This function builds relationships with prospects who have the capacity and affinity to donate a major or principal gift.

Relationship Management - Responsible for the cultivation of relationships of value to the University to include corporate, donor, alumni, patient, constituent, family and international relationships.  Handles the development, implementation, evaluation and administration of programs that serve and engage the University community.

Strategic Initiatives and Communications - Responsible for the development and implementation of communication strategies help advance the fundraising and engagement efforts of DAR. Responsible for the management and coordination of strategic initiatives/events that foster and engage donors and the University community as well as promote the achievement of philanthropic goals. Responsible for the administration of the DAR web environment to support strategic communication initiatives.

Development Resources and Support - Responsible for providing cross-functional support to multiple areas within DAR to ensure the achievement of division goals. Responsible for the timely reporting and processing of gifts and acknowledgements, ensuring accurate donor records, management of data quality, donation integrity and compliance with federal, state and University requirements.  Responsible for the ongoing efforts to grow, evaluate, and prioritize the pool of current and potential donors. Accurately identify new prospective donors, update information on existing prospective donors, and estimate inclination as well as capacity to give to the University. Uses data to inform portfolio composition and flow as well as to guide regional prospect assignments. Responsible for the strategic technological priorities and systems that advance the University's fundraising objectives and goals. These roles provide technical assistance, help desk support, system programming and analysis, analytics and reporting support DAR.
