Research Assistant - Public Health and Community Medicine, School of Medicine-18001777

This is a limited term position ending August 30, 2019. This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay. This is a part time position working 17.5 hours per week.

The Department of Public Health and Community Medicine is a research and teaching department of the medical school. Our faculty currently represents a range of disciplines, including public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, medicine, nutrition, environmental health, and health policy. Our activities include community-based and clinical research on a wide-array of public health topics and the education of medical and graduate students in health-related masters programs including the Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Health Communications.

In collaboration with Principal Investigator develops and modifies techniques and protocols and provides input into research design. Works independently performing a wide range of specialized techniques and experiments. Analyzes data, interprets results and assists in writing materials for publication and presentation. May supervise or provide work direction to others in the laboratory and helps manage laboratory operations.
Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science and 3-5 years of related GIS research experience OR Master’s degree and up to 2 years of social science and GIS research experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in geographic information systems (GIS) or related social sciences.
  • Knowledge of and experience with advanced GIS and spatial analytical laboratory techniques and procedures, data interpretation and statistical analysis.
