Research Technician - Research Administration, School of Dental Medicine-18001909

The TUSDM Division of Cancer Biology and Tissue Engineering is dedicated to conducting ethical, meaningful research in stem cell biology and tissue engineering. Our research efforts are directed towards meeting the needs of the scientific and dental community.

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will perform routine laboratory experiments related to analysis of human stem cells and is involved in the flow cytometry analysis of tissue culture cells and the generation of engineered tissues that mimic in vivo human tissues. The Research Technician will use basic tissue culture skills and be responsible for collecting and reviewing literature related to the research. The Research Technician should be able to follow protocols and take direction from the PI, keep accurate records of experiments and results, and maintain lab equipment, as well as order lab supplies as needed.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science with up to 1 year laboratory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures. Knowledge of dental equipment and terminology preferred.
  • The person in this position must manage their time well and be very organized.
  • He or she should possess the ability and confidence to work independently, under the supervision of the PI.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are important as the position interacts with many types of employees within the laboratory and beyond.
  • Must have basic computer skills – spreadsheets and word documents

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

Depending on the research schedule, there may be an occasional requirement for the Research Technician to check cell cultures on weekends as needed and by prior discussion with the PI.
