Job Description Summary

One position available for a Guest Services Assistant. Staff members actively engage guests to enhance their experience while maintaining Museum standards and communicating Museum offerings, programs, and services. Guest Services Staff will work in various departments providing administrative and marketing support.

This position has a starting pay of $13.00 per hour.

Specific Duties

- Assists with general museum reception and visitor services, meets and greets the general public at the main entrance reception desk.
- Help Museum guests by providing information about the AAMB.
- Answer phone inquiries and direct questions to appropriate staff as required.
- Data entry of guest and volunteer sign in sheets.
- Assist with office organization and file management.
- Basic internet researches for museum related content and community events.
- Actively engage guests to enhance their experience at the AAMB and respond promptly to their needs.
- Organize, clean, and monitor exhibits to ensure they are presentable and safe. Report any part of an exhibit that is not working properly
- Maintain continued interest in the AAMB’s exhibits and educational content to better serve the guest. Be knowledgeable of upcoming programs, participate in team meetings, and communicate guest comment concerns.
- Maintain good attendance and communicate with supervisory staff on scheduling issues.
- Open and close museum promptly per schedule, if applicable
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be available some weekends

Minimum Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED required with a minimum of one year of office, sales or customer service experience.
- MS Word and Excel experience
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to customer service excellence and teamwork
- High comfort level working with children and diverse groups
- Work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Punctuality

Preferred Qualifications

- One year office experience
- Intermediate MS Office experience
- Office management
- Forms and spreadsheet experience
- 25 wpm typing

Benefits Summary

Employees are eligible for the following benefits:

One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.

University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan – can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.

Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
