Assistant Provost for Strategic Initiatives and International Recruitment Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201807081881 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $120,900 - $208,800 Position Information Under the direct supervision of the Provost/EVC, the Assistant Provost for Strategic Initiatives and International Recruitment (AP-SIIR) is responsible for establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships and activities that raise UCR's profile in local, national and international marketplaces. In consultation with the academic leadership of the university, the incumbent develops, coordinates, executes and supports a comprehensive approach to both domestic and international educational partnerships. The AP-SIIR cultivates and maintains strong ties with high schools, community colleges, universities, corporations, recruitment agencies, alumni and professional associations regionally, nationally and internationally to develop robust recruitment channels for students. In coordination with the University's leadership, the incumbent also: - Oversees all international student recruitment strategies and activities for the university. - Works closely with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Graduate Division to enhance recruitment, outreach, and admission of international students. - Oversees all aspects of international recruitment for the university including planning, execution and assessment of international recruitment strategies, yield efforts, travel and related events. - Sets international recruitment priorities and goals that align with UCR's comprehensive strategic enrollment plan. - Implements long-term recruitment plan tracking, and makes adjustments as needed to ensure goal attainment. - Builds and strengthens relationships with campus and community partners. - Assists the colleges in meeting university admissions goals. - Meets with international university leaders to establish partnerships and recruitment pipelines. - Works with the Vice Provost of International Affairs to oversee, evaluate, and manage an institutional partner network and assist with development efforts. - Develops proposals to funding agencies for extramural support. Experience Experience Requirement Minimum of 10 years of related experience. Required Extensive experience with strategic initiatives and international recruitment in higher education. Required Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Preferred Experience developing and conducting workshops, seminars, and other group instructional programs. Preferred
Special Conditions Special Condition Requirement Must have the ability to travel including internationally on business. Required
Minimum Requirements Excellent consulting, relationship building and strategic thinking skills.
Thorough knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities to understand client priorities, issues, motivations and constraints.
Excellent ability to establish mission and goals at the macro-level; to lead subordinate management to develop goals in alignment with mission.
Sophisticated leadership abilities to establish department goals, and motivate and influence others to achieve.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally, diplomatically and tactfully with external constituents, colleagues, faculty, and campus administrations.
Ability to work with a broad range of constituents including government agencies, alumni, donors, international dignitaries, and academic leaders.
Demonstrated leadership, substantial administrative and managerial experience in international education in a higher education institution.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to set and meet goals, prioritize workload, handle multiple interruptions, and meet deadlines for multiple projects.
Demonstrated advanced skills in oral and written communication, and public speaking.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as part of a team, and to take the initiative for coordination of activities and projects.
A commitment to diversity and an understanding of the value that diversity and inclusion bring to a university.
Preferred Qualifications Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.

Thorough knowledge of organizational processes, protocols and procedures.

Thorough knowledge of the legal constraints and opportunities for higher education in the State of California and through Federal programs and regulations.

Knowledge of research and survey techniques with the ability to compile statistical data and develop reports.

Competency in other languages, proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is preferred.

Ability to engage in frequent long distance international travel.

A working knowledge of current national and international enrollment management practices for both graduate and undergraduate students.

An understanding of global issues including U.S. immigration laws and the impact those issues have on international education.
