The Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions champions that mission by leading the effort to create a compelling and attractive vision for potential students, enhancing the admissions process for those prospective students, and assuring a rewarding, meaningful and successful experience for all those who attend Ohio State.

This position is responsible for laying the foundation for the higher education experience for thousands of future leaders each year. Whether it is with the recruitment strategy that attracts interested students, the admissions process that enables those students to pursue their learning objectives, or by providing customized services and experiences for historically underserved populations, the Executive Director of Admissions has a major impact on the entire lifecycle of Ohio State’s students, and ultimately the university itself.

The Executive Director of Admissions is part of the dynamic and high performance Office of Student Academic Success within The Office of Academic Affairs. This position will report directly to the Associate Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Planning.

This position is a high-profile member of the Strategic Enrollment Planning team, which consists of: Undergraduate Admissions, Analysis and Reporting, Graduate and Professional Admissions, Student Financial Aid and Buckeye Link (student one-stop).

This position is an integral partner for the Office of Transition and Academic Growth, the Office of Academic Enrichment, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, University Registrar and many other units and programs in the university’s thriving colleges and campuses. The current position oversees four direct reports, $6.9 million in operating funds and 60 full-time staff members.

THE ROLE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

The Executive Director of Admissions must ensure excellent relationships with secondary schools and community based organizations; lead an admissions team that proactively and strategically anticipates and responds to enrollment challenges, one that is optimistic, opportunistic, forward-looking, innovative and results-oriented; employ both traditional and cutting edge methods to engage prospective students and families in a way they can best hear and respond to; keep student success and welfare always at the forefront, including an anticipation of and responsiveness to matters that influence student academic success, retention and graduation; and broaden the reach of the university in every part of the state, the country and the world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions will:

•Direct the undergraduate admissions process and assist with strategic enrollment planning efforts, both domestically and internationally, for the university
•Lead the development of a vision and direct the planning and setting of goals, priorities, policies, procedures, operations and budgets for admissions
•Work collaboratively with university partners to ensure admissions goals and processes are aligned to university priorities
•Provide leadership for enhancing technology and operations to guide efficient and effective admission processes for colleges and the university
•In partnership with Analysis and Reporting and Student Financial Aid, and under the direction of the AVP for Strategic Enrollment Planning, utilize data and analytics to make data-informed decisions to ensure admission decisions support enrollment goals
•Communicate and engage with campus stakeholders throughout the admissions process; enhance working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
•In partnership with Strategic Marketing and Communications, design and implement an effective marketing and communications strategic plan
•Represent the university at outreach activities and public functions
•Oversee compliance and policy efforts that mitigate risk and ensure best practices; hear admissions appeals and consider grievances
•Serve on local and national committees, task forces and working groups
•Champion the performance management process within the office

•Progressive admissions leadership experience with a focused and integrated approach to excellence, access and diversity (10+ years)
•Knowledge of current trends and best practices in admissions recruitment and strategic enrollment planning for both domestic and international undergraduate populations
•Successful track record in the recruitment of various populations of students
•Experience leading a complex organization through implementing new programs, processes and systems to accomplish goals
•Experience utilizing scholarships and financial aid to achieve enrollment and financial goals
•Innovative thinker who has demonstrated a strategic approach to recruitment
•Excellent leadership, public relations and team-building skills
•Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field
