We study the heart and brain. Projects focus on K+, Na+ and H+ channels, regulatory subunits, and peptide toxins. We use macroscopic and single-molecule electrophysiology and spectroscopy to evaluate native, clonal and iPS cells; phage display to isolate peptide toxins; and structural biology. Hypoxia and SUMO are two current areas of emphasis (https://ssom.luc.edu/goldsteinlab/). Priority will be given to recent Ph.D. graduates with experience in electrophysiology.
