Participate in service to the department and the university. Demonstrate a commitment to teaching in a multicultural environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

POSITION:INSTRUCTOR, DANCE, DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE AND DANCE, 3 year, renewable

POSITION SUMMARY:Teach studio dance techniques at all levels in modern/contemporary, concert jazz styles, and/or ballet. Teach one or more of the following dance studies courses: dance technology and digital media, dance history or aesthetics, dance anatomy/kinesiology, dance pedagogy, and choreography. Participate in service to the department and the university. Demonstrate a commitment to teaching in a multicultural environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience teaching dance and the ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to teach a variety of studio technique classes which could include commercial dance, hip hop, social dance, Contact Improvisation, Gaga, somatic forms, non-Western dance forms, or other areas of expertise. Ability to teach academic dance courses with writing components which could include dance appreciation, dance history, aesthetics, dance technology or film, or other area of expertise. Ability to coordinate or develop community outreach programs.
