The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the full-time, non-tenure track faculty position of Faculty Professional Development Coordinator, Central Services.
About the California Virtual Campus-Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI):
The CVC-OEI is a collaborative effort among California Community Colleges (CCC) to ensure that significantly more students are able to complete their educational goals by increasing both access to and success in high-quality online courses. The CVC-OEI is funded by a grant from the CCC Chancellor’s Office to the Foothill-De Anza Community College District, which manages the statewide program. The California Virtual Campus website (CVC.edu) features an online course finder and featured online degree programs from across 56 member CCCs, along with integrated student support resources. Through its professional development team (onlinenetworkofeducators.org) the CVC-OEI supports faculty at member colleges and across the system in the application of online teaching and course design practices that support student success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for a 12-month per year, non-tenure track Faculty Professional Development Coordinator to join the professional development team of the CVC-OEI. This position is responsible for supporting the role of the CCC system as a leader in the development and application of best practices in faculty preparation to teach online and quality online course design. Responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, coordinating, and delivering professional development that supports the objectives of the CVC-OEI, including:
- Increasing the number of CCC faculty prepared teach online.
- Increasing online student success rates with quality online course design and effective online teaching practices.
- Increasing participation in peer online course review and use of the OEI Course Design Rubric across the CCC system.
- Developing college-based faculty mentoring and course review programs.
- Leading the development and delivery of courses and certificate programs that promote effective online course design and use of the Canvas course management system.
- Training and supporting a statewide community of peer reviewers, instructional designers, and mentors involved in peer online course review and course redesign based on the OEI Course Design Rubric.
- Facilitating learning for faculty, staff, and administrators through a variety of methods including synchronous and asynchronous online professional development, webinars, on-site events, and just-in-time support materials.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the instructional, administrative, and educational technology needs of a distributed, statewide system of higher education. This position reports to the CVC-OEI Director of Professional Development and will be part of a team working and interacting remotely with a wide range of stakeholders from across the state, including various governance groups, committees, and external stakeholders using a variety of electronic and web-based technologies. The Faculty Professional Development Coordinator may work remotely from a location of his/her choice within the state of California, with frequent in-state travel required.
Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, service on district and/or college committees, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to participate in campus extra-curricular activities.

NOTE: Official Transcripts verifying qualifications will be REQUIRED prior to an offer of employment. Applicants who have international transcripts must obtain transcripts that are evaluated by an independent educational-equivalency evaluation company and obtain an English translation (if necessary). - Three or more years demonstrated successful experience in online teaching in a higher education setting.
- Experience supporting and training higher education faculty in online course design and teaching.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the CCC Common Course Management System (Canvas) and related tools and platforms.
- Experience with the OEI Course Design Rubric and the CVC-OEI Peer Online Course Review process.
- Experience applying prevailing accessibility standards in the development of online instruction.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations that impact distance education.
- Knowledge of national and regional trends and effective practices in online pedagogy, distance education course design, and faculty professional development.
- Experience aligning professional development projects and activities with institutional mission, goals, and strategic objectives.
- Experience planning, designing, facilitating, and co-facilitating trainings, workshops, and conferences.

HIRING RANGE: $68,479.00 - $112,466.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant’s verified education and experience. NOTE: The salary advertised with this position is based on the 2017-2018 salary schedule. Effective July 1,2018 through June 30, 2019, the position will receive an additional temporary 5% increase. On July 1, 2019 salaries will revert to the 2017-2018 salary schedule unless another agreement is reached.
