Working with the Telecommunications Team and reporting to the Manager, Telecommunications and in close consultation with the Director, Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) this position is responsible for the successful introduction and support of Unified Communications (UC) initiatives.

Your opportunity:

Working with the Telecommunications Team and reporting to the Manager, Telecommunications and in close consultation with the Director, EIS this position is responsible for the successful introduction and support of Unified Communications (UC) initiatives. This position will provide Tier I and II support for UC technologies which would include Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP), unified messaging, instant messaging, voice mail integration with email and other such technologies as may be introduced to the university.

The incumbents work involves the selection, deployment and education of the UC technologies. The incumbent works closely with the telecommunications team, other departments within the CIO portfolio, internal customers and vendors of products introduced. The incumbent will contribute to the development of usage guidelines and will provide and maintain the appropriate user documentation and support procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Evaluating new technologies or new and modified businesses processes to determine enhancement requirements
  • Ensuring system changes are consistent with business processes
  • Advising on cost, feasibility and impact of different implementation solutions
  • Responding to escalated complaints using informal negotiation skills
  • Creating complex and technical documentation and user support guides
  • Collaborating on cost estimates
  • Serving as an expert resource to a group of professionals in the speciality


CampusEssential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, business or related technical field or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five years progressively responsible experience with Unified Communications technologies which includes; IP telephony, VOIP and other unified communication technologies.
  • Experience with telephony support systems.
  • Experience in delivering customer training with UC technologies and developing both end user and technical documentation.
  • Experience in requirements gathering and systems business analysis in order to produce recommendations based on information obtained from user feedback and data provided by outputs from the various UC systems.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to interact well with all levels of staff at the University and with external vendors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high organizational and leadership abilities, judgment, and tact.
