Serves as the primary learning/academic officer for up to, and sometimes in excess of, 500 remote students per quarter, and is responsible for academic quality of all remote students serviced by the geographically dispersed CLS academic team. Operates with autonomy in both an individual remote capacity and a team capacity while maintaining an atmosphere conducive to learning and student success. Assures and assesses student learning, is persistent in student outreach designed to encourage student participation, engagement, and successful outcomes while improving both CHE:CHA and continuation rates. The Campus Dean, CLS will serve as the voice of Strayer University with all students in a manner that is in alignment with the client partner goals of promoting professional and responsible behavior.

Campus Dean, Corporate Learning Solutions

  • Must be a location independent professional and have the ability, focus, and self-motivation necessary to work alone in a remote environment, while maintaining a team presence via virtual meetings, conference calls, and messaging services.
  • Must have access to and ability to work a full day in a quiet, professional atmosphere in order to conduct adequate, private student consultations and other communications via phone and internet.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, inquisitive, proactive, and detail oriented, with a proficiency in technologies that promote remote communication, including but not limited to WebEx, Skype, and Excel.
  • Must be customer service focused with the ability to work in a multi-client environment.
  • Ensures compliance with academic policies, procedures and standards. Makes recommendations to change policies, practices and procedures when necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with and demonstrates sensitivity to client policies, procedures, and expectations regarding civil treatment of their employees.
  • In conjunction with the student support team, establishes and maintains a positive culture and morale that ensures the combined team (academics and operations) meets team goals.
  • Supports the advising, registration, and continuing enrollment efforts for geographically dispersed new and continuing students. Assists students in obtaining Letters of Credit for quarterly enrollment following prescribed Strayer University and client partner policies and procedures.
  • Ensures strong student outcomes by providing effective and timely advising and coaching to all students, particularly those who are “at risk”. Schedules and holds remote advising sessions to support student academic progress and effective course sequencing.
  • Conducts webinars and other forms of remote person-to-person advising sessions to assist geographically dispersed students with uncertainties about online platforms such as iCampus and Blackboard, as needed.
  • Conducts and documents academic advising including new student advising, alert advising and graduation advising. Ensures notes and comments are posted in S360 within 24 hours of the advising conversation or attempt.
  • Ensures timely and specific documentation of student discussions, advising sessions and other pertinent information in the Advising Dashboard.
  • Maintains active and regular communications using a variety of media and tools with enrolled students to ensure a high level of student support.
  • Conducts effective new student orientations, including introduction to online learning, to familiarize adult learners with University policies, procedures, and services.
  • Coordinates, or develops and conducts information literacy activities which meet the needs of the student population.
  • Compiles and reports student and program data and other activity updates to the Sr. Dean for the area.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Dean over the area, assesses prior learning petitions by the students including experiential learning portfolios and challenge examinations.
  • Maintains a minimum of 40 hours working from a remote self-provided and supported office each week.
  • May participate in observing and evaluating the performance of adjunct and full-time faculty members in an online, remote setting, as assigned. Will report observations to Dean of Faculty and Sr. Dean.
  • Arrange tutoring support for students, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university required, Terminal Degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Broad educational background preferably in business with at least two years teaching experience at the college level, excellent oral and written communication skills; at least one year administrative experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of Strayer University and client partners effectively and professionally.
  • Demonstrates ability to build and establish positive working relationships with Strayer peers and colleagues and client representatives, both in-person and long-distance.
  • History of being flexible and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities and adjust course when necessary.
  • Must be inquisitive, creative, proactive behaviors evident in holding a growth mindset
  • Possesses strong problem solving skills
