Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas invite applications for a joint tenure-track assistant professor position.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and its applications to computer science, with an active research program involving the application of mathematical methods to an area within computational science or data science. Examples include big data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and visualization. The candidate must be able to stimulate an environment of interdisciplinarity, working with students and faculty from both departments.
With about 38,000 students, UNT is the largest university in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the 33rd largest in the nation. We offer 101 bachelor's degrees, 82 master's degrees, and 38 doctoral degrees. UNT is a public research university and is the flagship of the UNT System. The Department of Mathematics has 34 faculty members and about 60 graduate students, and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering has 33 faculty members and about 220 graduate students. Minimum Qualifications:
A PhD in math, computer science, or a closely related field at the time of appointment.
