Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Anthropology at the University of North Texas invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in applied cultural anthropology for Fall 2019. The UNT Department of Anthropology is distinguished as part of a unique group of departments offering MA and MS degrees in applied anthropology. Our faculty research addresses current social and cultural issues in the areas of environmental and ecological anthropology; medical anthropology and public health; anthropology of education; business, technology, and design; migration and borders; and urban anthropology. We are looking for research and teaching specialization that intersects and bridges the scholarship of current faculty members.
Responsibilities of the successful applicant will include teaching undergraduate and graduate anthropology courses, particularly courses in their specialty area. Other courses may include methods, theory, or a geographic area. The successful applicant will be prepared to develop applied field and/or class projects that educate students in anthropological praxis, mentor graduate students, be willing to teach distance education courses, maintain an active research agenda, and contribute to the service of the department, college, and university.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a PhD in anthropology at the time of appointment. Applicants must have expertise in applied cultural anthropology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate their capacity to teach and mentor students in policy analysis and the impact of their work on policy (government, private, non-profits, etc.). Preference will also be given to applicants who demonstrate scholarly accomplishment, teaching experience, and experience in anthropological praxis.
