Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Job Summary/Basic Function:
The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas is accepting applications for an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. This full time, 12-month tenure-accruing appointment will begin no later than August 2019. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will be an innovative and entrepreneurial leader of both undergraduate and graduate programs in HPS. Duties include the development/implementation/evaluation of curriculum, online programs and courses, accreditation, enrollment management, faculty credentialing, student travel programs including study abroad, and academic partnerships. Responsibilities include student and faculty affairs and services of the college including the Office of Advising. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs serves as a member of the college leadership team and the University Academic Associate Deans Council, and he/she is the liaison to other campus offices and programs including the Dean of Students, Registrar, Office of Admissions, Faculty Success, UNT International, University Accreditation, Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, and the Toulouse Graduate School.

The College of Health and Public Service is home to close to 2,000 undergraduate students and 700 graduate students in the departments of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, Behavior Analysis, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management and Disaster Science, Public Administration, Rehabilitation and Health Services and Social Work. HPS offers three doctoral degrees, eight Master's degree programs and nine undergraduate degrees. The college values collaboration, transparency and a shared vision to support its mission.

Minimum Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in Audiology, Behavior Analysis, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Health Services Research, Rehabilitation Counseling, Public Administration, Public Health, Social Work, Speech Pathology or a related area.

To be eligible, candidates need an established teaching and research record that allows for academic appointment to one of the seven departments in the college at the rank of Full Professor. Prior experience with strategic development of successful new academic programs and strong leadership skills in multi-disciplinary settings is required.

Candidates should demonstrate an outstanding record of research accomplishment, student and faculty mentoring, excellent verbal and written communication, strong commitment to strategic thinking and experience in leadership and management.

Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate must be experienced with university, college and departmental operations and possess a strong commitment to student success and retention.
