Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Media Arts Department at the University of North Texas invites applications for a tenure track or tenured faculty position in the areas of postproduction and cinematography, with an emphasis on the documentary form. The appointment will be at the assistant or associate professor rank, and begins August 2019. Media Arts is housed within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. The University of North Texas is ranked as a Carnegie Tier 1 Research Institution, and is within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, the 5th largest media market in the United States.

The ideal candidate will combine technical and artistic experience in documentary cinematography and post-production with a strong understanding of the history and theory of this genre. We also seek applicants with expertise in emerging production and distribution platforms for documentary, including mobile and social media, immersive and emergent technologies and platforms.
Primary teaching responsibilities will be within the department's Master of Fine Arts terminal degree program in Documentary Production and Studies, and focused on documentary cinematography and postproduction. The successful candidate may also teach at the undergraduate level in areas of expertise. Applicants should exhibit and maintain a high-quality level of teaching and a body of creative work/scholarship with a record of national achievement through exhibition or academic publication. An international reputation is required for applicants applying for the associate level rank. The successful applicant will participate in MFA Thesis committees as needed, and will provide service to the department, college and university.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates holding the Master of Fine Arts in the field, pedagogical and creative experience in documentary cinematography and postproduction, and a strong commitment to teaching within the liberal arts are invited to apply.
