Overview

The Director of DISCOVERe serves as the campus strategist overseeing the Fresno State DISCOVERe program. This strategic leadership role supports student success efforts through the digital transformation of the student learning experience. The director will provide administrative leadership for the DISCOVERe program and its expansion by being the visionary strategist, champion, innovator, and enabler of technology-enabled learning. The Director of DISCOVERe partners closely with the Center for Faculty Excellence to support the development innovative teaching practices consistent with program goals; collaborates with Technology Services to identify and prioritize infrastructure needs; partners closely with the AVP of Institutional Effectiveness to assess program effectiveness; works in partnership with faculty, department chairs, associate deans, deans, administration, and other key campus stakeholders to coordinate and facilitate effective communication, processes, and initiatives; and builds and nurtures relationships with external partners to enhance support and raise funding for the program. In close partnership with faculty and the Center for Faculty Excellence, the director will bring positive impact to student success efforts through the curation of a digital learning strategy that aligns with the President’s bold vision and Fresno State’s campus strategic plan through supporting improvements in pedagogical research and curriculum design, graduation and workplace preparation, increased student engagement, digital literacy efforts, cost savings, and the cultivation of inquiry and lifelong learning. The Director of DISCOVERe reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Program goals:

The Director of DISCOVERe partners with university stakeholders to advance the goals of the DISCOVERe program, which are to:

    redesign and improve pedagogy through the use of mobile technology,

    improve student learning as evidenced by content mastery,

  • improve student digital literacy, and

  • lower the cost of instructional materials to students.

Compensation

The salary is competitive and is negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position with an attractive benefits package which includes but is not limited to: a vacation accrual rate of 16 hours per month; 12+ paid holidays; excellent choice of medical, dental and vision insurance, long term disability coverage, life insurance; and retirement benefits.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $80K-$95K

Qualifications
    Provide administrative leadership and vision for the use of digital technologies in teaching and learning environments, workforce preparation, experiential learning opportunities, and lifelong learning opportunities.Partner closely with the Senior Academic Technology Officer and the Center for Faculty Excellence to support faculty and the development of innovative teaching practices consistent with program goals.Partner with the AVP of Institutional Effectiveness to assess effectiveness of the DISCOVERe program as well as the quality of the faculty and student experience.Promote the DISCOVERe program to students, faculty, staff, the university community and the higher education community.Partner effectively with deans, department chairs, faculty, key university offices, community stakeholders, and technology partners to advance the program goals of DISCOVEReWork to make the DISCOVERe program sustainable.Provide administrative and strategic leadership of the DISCOVERe team, which includes leadership of the DISCOVERe Hub.

Secondary duties of the job include:

    Serve as an active, engaged, and effective member of the Technology Services leadership team to plan for and implement projects, policies, procedures, protocols, processes, and structures that align with the Technology strategic plan and the Fresno State strategic plan.Participate and collaborate within the campus technology shared governance structures.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

    A bachelor's degree from an accredited university in technology, business, information systems, educational technology or a related field of study.Three or more years’ experience in a leadership or management position responsible for leading and supporting mobile and digital learning technology initiatives, preferably in a higher education environment, or related experience.

Preferred Skills:
