Job Description:


Wittenberg University is accepting applications for an Assistant Coach for Men's and Women's Cross Country & Track & Field. The persone selected for this position will assist the Head Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field in leading all aspects of an NCAA Division III cross country and track & field program. This is a full-time, 10-month, salaried position. Candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be able to interact effectively and appropriately with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, peers, community members, and administrators, possess the skills to evaluate prospects, maintain and ensure student-athlete academic integrity, demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Wittenberg University and Division III and to compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.


Essential functions include, but are not limited to:


  • Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures as stated in Wittenberg's athletics department, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate, attend, and supervise all daily practice sessions, workouts, team travel, and contests.
  • Recruit, retain, and monitor student-athletes for the academic demands required of students at Wittenberg University.
  • Ensure that all practices are conducted in a professional manner according to Wittenberg and NCAA time requirements.
  • Adhere to departmental procedures relative to purchasing and travel expenditures.
  • Maintain and have thorough knowledge of NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Report any alleged violations of NCAA, NCAC, or institutional rules and regulations.
  • Supervise, monitor and submit all work study hours of student employees and contracts.
  • Attend all staff meetings and departmental luncheons.
  • Provide an opportunity for annual evaluations with student-athletes.
  • Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Vice President and Director of Athletics & Recreation.


Requirements:


For this position, we require a Bachelor's Degree and 1 - 3 years of playing and/or coaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with training and experience with distance running in cross country and track.


Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, social media, and Front Rush.


Travel is required as well as some evening and weekend work.


A valid driver's license and proof of acceptable driving record is required.
