POSITION SUMMARY:

Experienced, professional bartender is knowledgeable in regulations regarding the service of alcohol. Assists in the setup and breakdown of catering events.

STATUS:  Part-time, Without Benefits
WORK HOURS:  Variable on call to include early morning, day, evening, nights and weekends.In this position you are limited to 29 or fewer hours per week and less than 999 hours in your anniversary year.
FLSA:  Non-Exempt
MINIMUM PAY: $13.50 / hour

ESSENTIAL AND RELATED FUNCTIONS:

  • Knowledgeable in Virginia ABC laws and regulations in regard to the service of alcoholic beverages. Serves alcohol according to regulations.
  • Assists in setting up and break down of catering events insuring that they are properly set with spotless clean service ware.
  • Assists with waiting tables when requested in a prompt, pleasant, courteous and professional manner.
  • Clears tables and bar area and assists in cleanup of catering events. Sets up and breaks down bars at catering functions.
  • Ensures that service ware and workspace is clean and in proper order prior to service.
  • Provides prompt, courteous and professional service.
  • Adheres to dress code; well-groomed and neat.
  • Performs job duties in a safe manner remembering the safety of self and others. Shows initiative and takes responsibility for proper service and sanitation.
  • Communicates professionally with supervisors, co-workers and guests.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of VA ABC laws and regulations in regard to service of alcohol is necessary.
  • TIPS and ServSafe Certifications preferred.
  • Experience as a server preferred.
  • Must dress according to Catering standards with a neat appearance and be prompt and reliable.
  • Must be able to stand for extended time periods.
  • Must possess a positive work attitude, follow and take directions willingly and be able to work as a team player and cooperate with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
