Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Benefits Manager, the Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the successful maintenance of the Workday’s Absence Management and Time Tracking solution, as well as managing all leaves. This position is also responsible for assisting employees with all aspects of benefits, maintaining employee databases, managing all insurance billing and maintaining employee benefits files.

Job Description

  • Ensure Time & Attendance records are submitted on every employee within established deadlines (every other Monday, 12pm Eastern Time, or earlier as required by payroll).  Employees for whom no data was received must be reported to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain valid time keeping and absence functions in Workday for all employees.
  • Assist supervisors with corrective actions on rejected timesheets.
  • Obtain effective dates from HR Business Partners or Supervisors of personnel actions affecting employees pay or leave (time off, separation actions, promotions, etc.).
  • Adjust employee leave balances and Service Computation Dates as instructed by HR leadership
  • Prepare and validate corrected timesheets, as necessary.
  • Provide guidance in interpreting leave policies, federal and state leave laws & leaves for employees, faculty (collective bargaining agreement) managers and HR Business Partners.
  • Work with third party LOA management group to develop and send applicable letters to employees detailing the status of their leave application and leave implications (pay, benefits, return to work, etc.), as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of employees on leaves.
  • Instruct managers on appropriate time reporting during leaves utilizing applicable policies.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and benefits teams on various leave issues and concerns.
  • Assist in management of Tuition Exchange and Tuition Remission programs.
  • Administers various employee benefit program including health, dental, vision, retirement, life, tuition remission, FMLA and short and long-term disability.
  • Provide benefit orientations and enrollments for new hires.
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies.
  • Process all changes for benefits for life events outside of open enrollment period.
  • Prepare and maintain employee benefit files, ensuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality.
  • Update and maintain employee files regarding the tracking of benefit deductions or additions/subtractions in company payroll system.
  • Report, analyze, and interpret benefit related data as required.
  • Prepare and set up meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand University benefits.
  • Respond to routine inquiries and requests regarding employee benefits.


 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

            Knowledge:

  • Associates degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Technology or other relevant degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1+ years implementing Workday Absence Management and Time Tracking solutions preferred
  • Two to four years’ experience in employee benefit administration
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
