The College of Business (COB) at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship/Economics, beginning Fall 2019.
- Teaching lower and upper division courses as well as graduate courses in entrepreneurship and economics.
- Developing an effective curriculum, benchmarking the best teaching practices of entrepreneurship and economics in higher education.
- Creating a demonstrable commitment to research, following Academically Qualified expectations as outlined by the AACSB. Track record of published research is critical.
- Demonstrating capability in engaging student learning in an outcomes-based educational environment.
- Engaging with business community and other stakeholders; a professional network is critical; community includes producers and shippers of specialty crop agriculture.
- Participating actively, exercising collaborative peer leadership, in college and university committees.
- Mentoring students and enabling their career goals through introduction and references; cultivating internships in operations and service-based businesses for students.
- Teaching 12 credits (usually three courses) per semester; this is a typical faculty load.
- Ph.D. in entrepreneurship, economics, applied economics or related field by date of appointment, from a regional and/or AACSB accredited doctoral program.
- Expertise in economic theory, applied economics and quantitative methods.
- Passion for teaching preferably evidenced by good student evaluations; must be able to demonstrate teaching capabilities.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues are essential.
- Ability to teach effectively in a wide range of courses, mostly in microeconomics, macroeconomics, post-harvest related supply chain and other related courses.
- Experience working effectively in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
- Demonstrated interest in data analysis, data analytics, innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Experience in teaching computer-assisted courses.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in professional or academic areas.
- Demonstrated record of research publications.
- Entrepreneurial experience a plus.
