Meets professional standards for faculty in accordance with college policies and procedures.Principal Responsibilities and Duties
- Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom. Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, etc.)Demonstrated proficiency with Mac OS.
- Bachelor's degree in Art, Visual Communication, Commercial Art, Computer Graphics, Graphic Design, Interactive Media or Interactive Technology, and 3 year non-teaching industry-relevant work experience, and evidence of training in digital media;
- Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction or Interactive Design, Interface Design, Visual Design or User Experience.
Preferred Work Experience
- Three years of teaching experience including curriculum development.
- Three or more years of professional experience as a member of the UX/UI design team, as Visual Designer, Design Researcher, UX Designer, Interaction Designer, Experience Designer, Information Designer, or Design Coder.

- Reliable transportation may be required for teaching at multiple campus locations.Classes may be scheduled in morning, afternoon and evening time slots.Able to document training in digital media.
- Ability to maintain an established schedule which may include evenings and weekends and multiple campus locations.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of work and student-related information.

- Proficiency using computer applications, classroom or other current learning technologies for effective teaching.
- Effective teaching techniques adaptable to a variety of learning styles with an understanding of the comprehensive philosophy of community colleges.
- Knowledge of subject matter and related and/or relevant topics and issues in the discipline.
- Knowledge of effective instructional techniques and innovative modes of course delivery adaptable to a variety of learning styles.
Conversant of best practices in using current technologies in the classroom and in conveying online course content in the learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas) in the classroom.Extensive knowledge of the discipline, subject matter, and related and/or relevant topics and issues in the teaching discipline such as:
- the role of a user experience designer as part of a multi-disciplinary team;the best use of software tools for user experience design;strong interests and capabilities in the design and development of engaging user experiences for digital products; anda thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies such as user research, participatory design, prototyping, and user testing.
