The Brody RISE Pre-College Program provides academic enrichment and healthcare exposure to learners from diverse backgrounds. In keeping with the Brody School of Medicine’s mission, Brody Rise desires to increase the supply of primary care physicians serving the state, improve the health status of citizens in eastern North Carolina and enhance the access of disadvantaged and minority students to a medical education. Brody RISE meets learners where they are, across the spectrum of academic accomplishment. Learners will RISE to a career in healthcare and research while increasing leadership skills and professionalism. The program serves students in Eastern North Carolina. Students participate in exciting activities in STEM with a healthcare focus through the Brody RISE Pre-College Program’s After School, Saturday Academy and Summer Program

Job Duties

Brody RISE Pre-College Program Teacher-We are looking to recruit one Math or Science Teacher to work with program participants through the Saturday Academy and Afterschool Program. These are Temporary Positions that will last from start date until May and then work in the Month of June and/or July.

Provide/deliver high quality, student-centered, hands-on, and inquiry-based instruction for students in Saturday Academy and/or After School Program

Develop lesson plans for classes assigned in the Saturday Academy and/or After School Program

Participate in the assessment of learning outcomes and evaluation of the Brody RISE Pre-College Program as well as provide feedback on activities/experiences and participants

Participate in any professional development sessions offered by the Brody RISE Pre-College Program

Maintain, complete and submit Brody RISE Pre-College Program reports, surveys, grades, time sheets, attendance and activity records, online data, and any additional paperwork as designated by the Program Administration

Organizes resource material and sets up laboratory activities

Assists with program opening and closing activities/ceremonies

Accompanies participants on tours, field trips, conferences, leadership retreats or other activities, as necessary

Assists with weekend activities, as necessary

Interacts with faculty, staff, parents, and participants

Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree with a current professional North Carolina Teaching License.

Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Qualified candidates must hold a valid teaching license with an endorsement for Mathematics/Science (Middle school/Junior High) or related field.

Excellent oral and written communication skills; and evidence of skill working with at risk student populations.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
