The multimedia journalist gathers information for the purpose of shooting, writing and editing his/her footage for the newscast, special programs and sports programs. The multimedia journalist works closely with news producers and assignment editor to prepare news stories for all programs and works with staff members to improve the station’s news product

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have completed COMM 3352 or have completed the first 6 sessions of a WUTV workshop that starts at the beginning of each semester or complete the WUTV 8-week training program. Must complete and pass a skills test. Applicant must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Must be able to lift 50lbs
Must be able to stand and hold a camera for 45 minutes
Must be able to carry camera supplies

Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled for six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average unless otherwise noted/indicated by the hiring department.

Conduct research / interviews for the purpose to air on WUTV, News reporting and information gathering via telephone, on-line, field work and social media.
Work with news producers to cover local news. Ability to produce newscasts, edit video, write clear and strong news and sports copy. Performs production duties in the control room and studio.
