Position Description: The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Cardiology, is searching for a full-time associate or full professor. The successful applicant will assume a key leadership role in the development of a new joint cardiology program between the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital, Advocate Children's Hospital and North Shore University Health System. This individual will have an extraordinary opportunity to lead and shape the future of one of the largest pediatric cardiology programs in the Midwest. Ultimately, the Chief will unify the Pediatric Cardiology Program across all affiliated hospitals.
The ideal candidate is a leader and program builder with a strong background in all aspects of Pediatric Cardiology. The successful candidate is expected to identify and develop strategic collaborative initiatives with pediatric cardiologists and cardiac surgeons in advancing the goals of consistently excellent quality of care and outcomes, cutting edge interventional and non-interventional cardiology procedures, and pre-eminent education, scholarship and research; and will demonstrate ongoing commitment, investment and support of scholarly activities related to pediatric cardiology, whether in clinical outcomes, therapeutics or translational/basic research. Other responsibilities will include teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.
We especially welcome applicants with prior experience in administration of clinical, and educational or research programs, national recognition of scholarship and expertise in a sub-discipline of cardiology, and/or leadership in pediatric cardiology at the national level.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified in pediatrics and in pediatric cardiology, 4) have completed an approved pediatric cardiology fellowship (or equivalent training), and 5) have extensive post-fellowship clinical experience across the broad spectrum of pediatric cardiology.
