Position Description:
The Human Resources Coordinator, under general supervision, independently performs a variety of complex clerical projects and assignments such as department project coordination, constituent relations, employment support, event and recognition program coordination, and general office operations. This position acts as the primary public contact for the HR office.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees public areas of HR (reception area, conference room) to promote an environment of professionalism, confidentiality, and safety. Maintains email and main line. Research and respond to a variety of inquiries, seeking additional expertise as needed. Identifies, interprets and reports any trends to members of HR staff.
  • Provides robust daily support and coordination for all HR operations, including conducting and compiling research, developing recommendations based on best practices, anticipating and executing project details, providing status updates, providing event support for the annual conferences, including coordination of facilitators, communications, registration and materials, and onsite support.
  • Directs work for student or temporary staff and ensures exceptional customer service in their role as HR liaison. Manages logistics for HR sponsored on-campus events including submitting and coordinating room reservations, technology requests and event set-up, as well as catering requests. Assists with recruiting and employment activities such as assisting candidates and reference providers in completing applications. May serve as backup in the Human Resources Manager's absence. Organizes monthly New Staff Orientations, including inviting new staff members, facilitators, and preparing materials for the day. Provides administrative support for various campus wide events. Maintains department's website, ensuring consistency with university branding. Produces documents, reports, and interactive forms. Coordinates and maintains protocols for securing files for HR department documents and records. Maintains required employment notices with applicable laws and regulations. Manages the procurement of office supplies for the HR team. Assists with tracking invoices, expenses and preparing budget reports using Excel. Serves as backup in the Payroll and Benefits Assistant's absence. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Strong customer service orientation Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Ability to organize, analyze and prioritize Strong attention to detail Ability to operate efficiently and remain calm under pressure Ability to handle changing priorities with relative ease Ability to problem solve within a fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions Ability to convey positive and professional attitude; support and contribute to the success and development of colleagues Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community

Qualifications:
    AA/AS degree preferred. 2 or more years of general office support. Equivalent combination of experience and education considered. Familiarity with Human Resources topics and operations. Experience working in an HR office preferred.

Compensation and Benefits: Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
